Q-Tips

In this sizzle reel, I was commissioned to create a series of whimsical props made out of Q-Tips. The props were meant to have a homemade charm with a craftsman’s touch.

Some of the objects were animated with stop motion, like this bicycle, which has separate moveable wheels. I experimented with creative ways to use Q-Tips, such as on the bike seat: I joined two Q-tips together and then tufted the fibers black in place to form the shape of the seat. For the wheels, I discovered upon cutting into a Q-Tip that it’s actually just a tightly wound roll of paper! So I unwound the paper from some of them to make thin, delicate spokes for the bike wheel.
